Minot State University is honoring its centennial in a variety of ways this year.
And today, university officials were promoting a very visible commemoration of the 100th year.
A sculpture has been put in place outside the MSU Dome.
It's still covered up - it'll be unveiled next week - but its creator was talking about the process of designing and creating a special piece of art.
Bennett Brien-un is a member of the Turtle Mountain Chippewa and says he's been working on the sculpture for months - with the help of some students from the Burdick Job Corps Center.
(Bennett Brien, Sculptor) "They were some good workers - busy as beavers you know. It's coming out of a vat of water and carrying a stick. The stick symbolizes a diploma or something - or anything you achieve I guess. I hope they like it. It's pretty cool when somebody likes what you do ya know."
Brien's beaver sculpture will be officially unveiled next Tuesday as Minot State University continues to celebrate its centennial.
