and students at Grimsrud Elementary get to contribute a "piece" of themselves.
Kids and parents sit outside in the cool breeze and learn about peace through reading, art, and music.
This is also the second year the school has planted a peace garden.
The students create mementos with pictures or a word that means peace to them and place it in the garden.
"The kids here at Grimsrud talk a lot about peace within their classrooms and within the Grimsrud community through being kind and respectful and trustworthy. And they've been talking about that for the last couple of weeks and so I think it's just a reminder for everyone to remember to be kind to one another," says Janet Bassingthwaite, Parent Involvement Coordinator, PTO.
Thirteen languages are spoken at Grimsrud Elementary and signs within the garden have the word peace written on them in that language.
The goal is for the kids to see how peace is represented for everyone in a different way.
