The long-standing affiliation between Minot State University and Dakota College at Bottineau may be coming to an end.
The State Board of Higher Education has ordered new Chancellor Larry Skogen to look into severing the administrative ties between the institutions.
Bottineau has been associated with Minot State since 1996, and before that was affiliated with NDSU in Fargo.
DCB's dean, Ken Grosz, says former chancellor Hamid Shirvani had planned to announce that Bottineau would become a stand-alone institution.
Shirvani was forced out of his job this year.
A higher ed board member says it makes sense to combine the ending of the MSU-DCB relationship in conjunction with the retirement of Minot State University President David Fuller next spring.
