Charges Reduced in Cop Beating Case

Posted: Updated:

Charges have been reduced against a Minot man accused of beating a Minot police officer unconscious.

In district court this afternoon, the state dropped an attempted murder charge in the case, instead charging Jesse Ili with aggravated assault.

Other charges in connection with the August 30th incident were retained.

That means Ili is facing three Class C Felonies, a Class A Misdemeanor, and two Class B Misdemeanors in connection with the case.

Police say Ili ran off when officers approached a vehicle with obvious marijuana odor coming from it.

Ili is accused of beating one officer's head against a pole until he was unconscious.

A preliminary hearing and arraignment for Ili is scheduled for October 11th.
