Students Walk For Classmates In Buddy Walk

Posted:

Tomorrow morning staff and students from Horizon Middle School will be lacing up their shoes to take part in the Buddy Walk.

The Buddy Walk raises awareness about Down Syndrome.

Horizon Middle School students with Down Syndrome have been doing presentations to their class about the genetic disorder.

At tomorrow's walk staff and students will be wearing shirts representing students in the school with Down Syndrome.

"I think the number one thing is awareness and that we're more alike than different and kids can just be supportive of differences and find strength in the abilities and be buddies," Special Education Teacher Missy Moritz said.

If you want to take part in the Buddy Walk it's being held tomorrow on the State Capitol Grounds.

Registration is at 10 a.m. and the walk begins at 11 a.m.
