Community receives grant to attract new Air Service

Two new flights will soon be flying in and out of Bismarck.

The city of Bismarck applied for and received a $500,000 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The grant will add two direct flights from Bismarck to Dallas/Ft. Worth and Chicago.

"So the next step that we have to fulfill is the city has received the grant funding from the private sector we will have to match that $500,000 for a minimum revenue guarantee to attract an airline. We've raised about $250,000 already from the private sector, so we'll finish our fundraising and then we'll start talking to airlines about who might be able to provide that service," Kelvin Hullet said.

Hullet says he hopes the two new flights will begin taking off next year.
