Last week, downtown Minot business owners played host to the wine walk.
But this week, area educators took part in an Evening on Literacy Lane in downtown Minot.
North Central Reading Council is an organization that promotes literacy, and one way to do that is to offer professional development for teachers.
So, Thursday night to kickoff a new school year, teachers from the Minot area got to walk around to local businesses and learn how literacy can, and should be incorporated into every subject in school - not just English class.
A member of the reading council says that this is a hands on way to expand ideas in all areas of the classroom.
(Melessa Bosch, NCRC) "Reading comes in every subject. Whether its math, science, social studies.. So, we want teachers to have that education so that no matter what subject they're teaching, they feel confident about the literacy skills their students need."
This was the third year of the downtown Evening on Literacy Lane.
