MSU Student Receives Scholarship

MSU Student Receives Scholarship

Posted: Updated:

This coming week thousands will be coming into Minot for the Hostfest to learn about and celebrate the Scandinavian heritage.

Thanks to a scholarship, one Minot State student will soon be leaving Minot to do the same.

Tessa Cammel Camel is the recipient of the semester-abroad scholarship from Telemark university College, located in Norway.

She will receive the 5-thousand dollar scholarship at the Scandinavian-American hall of Fame Banquet this week.

The sophomore chemistry major, who always wanted to spend a semester studying abroad, will spend six months in southeastern Norway starting in January.

She believes her time overseas will be a great learning experience.

(Tessa Cammel, Telemark County Scholarship Recipient) "I'm hoping to kind of find myself. I know that sounds kind of cheesy but just to become more independent and know what I want to do in life and know where I want to go with it."

Cammel says she would like to do some volunteer work with the community.

2012 Miss Norsk Hostfest Abigail Naze was the first recipient of the scholarship.

She completed her semester, last June.
