The water supply in Minot is safe.
That's according to Minot Public Works Assistant Director Jason Sorenson.
The city conducted a series of tests following a privately taken
water sample that tested positive for bacteria over the weekend.
Sorenson says the 2nd Avenue Northwest sample obtained by city officials was also tested at the First District Health Unit --- and was found to have no contamination.
(Jason Sorenson, Minot Public Works Assistant. Director) "We'll continue to monitor, take samples if necessary, and ensure that it's safe. That's something that my plant staff does on a weekly basis, we're pulling samples throughout town, that's a state and federal requirement."
Sorenson says water samples are easily contaminated after collection.
He says while the city does conduct frequent water quality tests, reporting specific concerns is encouraged.
