A 25-year-old Minot man was killed Monday night when his car missed a turn in northwest Minot and went into the Mouse River.
Minot Police report the car was traveling east on 4th Avenue when it missed a turn, went over the dike and down the embankment, and went into the water.
A passenger, 29-year-old Dustin Smith of Minot, was able to escape the sinking vehicle.
But Minot Fire Department dive team members had to pull the driver from his car.
(John Krill, Minot Fire Dept. Battalion Chief)"It took us approximately 15 minutes from the time we got the call to where we were able to get him out of the vehicle. Some of the divers that were down in there said it was all tangled up, upside down, the vehicle was smashed and then when they did get into the vehicle they had trouble removing."
The name of the driver is being withheld until relatives can be notified.

A two-year-old child was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Minot Sunday evening.
