Service Clubs Unite for Høstfest

Posted: Updated:

"That's one thing we've always believed in here: tradition."

Those were the opening words of Norsk Høstfest President David Reiten at the 'traditional' opening of the 36th annual Norsk Høstfest.

Minot service clubs joined forces today for part of the Høstfest kick off event.

As an event that relies heavily on volunteers, Reiten says it's special that the Høstfest is one of the only times that the local service clubs unite.

The luncheon did have a somber tone, as this is the first year after Høstfest founder Chester Reiten passed.

Tonight's (Tuesday) opening ceremonies are dedicated to the army of volunteers that make the Norsk Høstfest possible.

(David Reiten, Norsk Høstfest President) "It will be honoring Chester and the volunteers. The number one volunteer and then, everyone that is not only the back bone of the Norsk Høstfest, but its heart and soul."

Opening ceremonies begin at 7 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Vikings.

The event will feature Frank Sinatra, Jr. and the full Minot Symphony Orchestra.
