Today's accident should remind us that wildlife are on the move at this time of year.
The moose-vehicle accident in Minot came a day after a pick-up hit a moose on I-94 near Casselton, and there was recently another moose accident near Kenmare.
So why have there been so many moose on the move lately?
(Randy Kreil / ND Game and Fish) "Alot of times people see moose and they are a novelty. This time of year, is especially active for moose, it's the breeding season. In most of the instances when moose have been involved with vehicle collisions or wandered into an urban environment, they are almost always typically young bulls that have been run off as their mother enters the breeding season, or they are in search of a mate themselves."
Kreil says if you spot a moose in an urban area you should contact you local law enforcement.
He says breeding season typically wraps up at the end of October.
