Soaring with the Blue Hawks October 9th

Bismarck, ND -

The Dickinson State football team won their first game of the season.
The Bluehawks walloped Jamestown but the question is can they build off of it.

A 27 to 7 win over the University of Jamestown on Saturday is giving the Bluehawks some confidence after their first W of the season.

(HANK BIESIOT/ DSU HEAD COACH)"We hit some big plays we had three, four big plays and that often times is a determining factor. We like the way we ran the ball too. We were consistent with the running game. We were able to control the clock a little bit."

(RYAN PAYNE/ DSU O-LINEMAN) "It felt good to finally get the bear off the back with that one but kind of gotta start looking forward now that's over so looking toward Carroll this week."
The Bluehawks saw their team do a lot of things right on both sides of the ball. It was a complete game all- around... Head Coach Hank Biesiot wants to see more of that against a familiar foe in 4 and 1 Carroll College.

(BIESIOT)"We're just going to do the same plays. You still have to get a bit of a rhythm get some mini drives going. They're a very good defensive team they really react they get off blocks they pursue as well as any team we're going to play."

Even though it's been one-sided, there's still a rivalry between the Bluehawks and Carroll-- but for Senior Offensive lineman Ryan Payne it means even more.

(PAYNE) "I grew up in Montana. I did follow carroll when I was growing up and I know guys from there. I have family that will be at the game and I know people from Carroll college so it's kind of a bragging rights type of thing I guess to go in there and play tough against them."
It's the first of two meetings between the schools this season.

Game one is in Montana and will set the tone for the season finale back in Dickinson-- but the Bluehawks are trying to focus on the game right in front of them.

(BIESIOT) "you know that's one of the things of playing somebody twice. It's a little different you just gotta worry about one game at a time and up there they have a good venue to play in. It should be a fun trip."

It'd be even more fun for Dickinson State if they can finish off the trip by getting their second straight win.

Carroll College is coming off of a loss last week, they are 4 and 1. This is the first of two straight weeks on the road for the Bluehawks.
