Service of Remembrance for Infant Loss

Posted:

St. Alexius Medical Center hosts its 21st annual Service of Remembrance in honor of National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.

The sun shined down on the families who gathered together in honor of a child they lost.

This service is for those who have experienced the loss of a baby during pregnancy or through stillborn or neonatal death.

After prayers, music, and readings, parents were able to write a message to their child on a balloon and release them at the end of the ceremony.

"It's a nice way for the parents to get a little closure and then to be together with other parents who are going through the same grieving process that they are - - just to know that they're not alone. Because when you have a miscarriage, sometimes you feel like you're all alone," says Stephanie Goroski, Director of Women's and Children's Services.

The Remembrance Service is held at St. Mary's Cemetery.
