Mugs for Hugs

Mugs for Hugs

Posted: Updated:

No matter how old your child is, it's important to be prepared for the worst - just in case.

So, today, families came to Dakota Square

where their kids got to be apart of safety seminars, talking about basic precautions and how to handle themselves if they are put into a dangerous situation.

The Minot Police Department helped children have their fingerprinting done, and photos taken - which were given to the parents for safe keeping in case of an emergency.

A member of one of the safety seminars at the event says that even though they hope nobody has to deal with having a missing child, it's much better to be safe than sorry.

(Gary Jahner, Safety Seminar, Mugs for Hugs) "Safety programs such as this are not replaceable. I mean, if we can teach kids at a young age the importance, the value of safety.. If we can teach them at a young age, we've got to."

Jahner says they hope to continue Operation Mugs and Hugs in Minot.
