Blue Cross on Healthcare.gov: "No way of knowing actually when it's going to start working well."

Posted: Updated:

Change is in the air.  A big one confronting many is health care reform.

One insurance company says "help is on the way."  They're fanning out across North Dakota breaking down the impact of the law -- commonly referred to as "Obamacare" -- on health insurance coverage, choices and costs.

The good news is -- "North Dakotans aren't experiencing anything different, really, than the rest of the country, especially in federally-facilitated marketplaces," says James Nichol, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of ND, Consumer Sales Manager.

Officially, the health insurance marketplace is open at healthcare.gov.  The bad news is people still cannot get through the federally-facilitated exchange website.

"We're telling people not to try the federally-facilitated marketplace until after November 1st.  That's a good bet, but we have no way of knowing actually when it's going to start working well," says Nichol.

If you need coverage or just more information, you can contact an insurance agent directly -- or you can attend a free session hosted by Blue Cross-Blue Shield in eight different cities across the state.  The next is October 17th in Jamestown -- with Fargo, Williston and Valley City to follow on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd, respectively.
