CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- A newly released survey reveals that certification does advance careers- and paychecks. While doctors, lawyers, and CPAs all have peer certification tests in order to practice, certification for other industries frequently has no impact, other than building the brand of the professional with little evidence that the certification itself improves the professional's bottom line.
In a just released survey by the Fuld-Gilad-Herring Academy of Competitive Intelligence, 420 respondents from a wide range of industries revealed that Certified Intelligence Professionals (CIP™s) are significantly more likely to be in the higher pay categories (defined as $80K to over $200K), have 25% more likelihood to be in the top categories ($125K+) and on average earn 15% more than those not certified. In addition CIP™s get promoted fast.
"An astonishing 91% of those promoted received the promotion within 2-3 years since being certified, and are involved in high-level strategic early warning processes in their companies," said Dr. Benjamin Gilad, the Academy's President and co-founder.
Over the last decade, the CIP™ program has graduated 683 certificate holders in this specialized field. 'These are an elite group of competitive analysts who now work at the global Fortune 1000 on five continents. Recruiters are starting to ask for the Academy's CIP™ graduates when filling market and strategic analyst positions," said Gilad. He also commented that according to the respondents, 63% of the companies value the Academy's certification.
"Companies are now looking for people with the CIP™ since they are perceived as having the 'intelligence perspective' when they change jobs," said Leonard Fuld, Academy CEO and co-founder.
"As a result of their training, these professionals always take the competition into account no matter which role they are in," said Fuld.
