Carrington Bank Robbery Update

Posted: Updated:

One man is in custody after a bank robbery in Carrington yesterday.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, is being held at the Heart of America Correctional Facility in Rugby after being stopped by a Highway Patrol trooper on Highway 52 near Martin yesterday afternoon.

Two other agencies were involved in the arrest - the Harvey Police and McHenry County Sheriff's Department.

The arrest came after a brief standoff that shut down Highway 52 for a few minutes about four-pm.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident once he stepped out of the car he was driving.

Gate City Bank in Carrington was robbed about mid-afternoon, although details of the robbery are not yet available from the FBI.
