Keeping up with the growth happening all around the Bakken can be difficult.
Three financial groups in the state recognized this and decided to help.
In a joint effort, Farm Credit Services of North Dakota, Farm Credit Services of Mandan, and AgriBank have been giving grant money to communities impacted by oil and mineral exploration and production.
In 2012, over 400-thousand dollars were given away to cities and town impacted by oil.
THIS year, over 700-thousand dollars in grant money will be given away and it can go to a number of organizations including: medical and emergency services, low income housing projects, and school systems are among many groups impacted by the growth of Western North Dakota.
It's a cause Claude Sem is proud to be a part of.
(Claude Sem, CEO, Farm Credit Services of North Dakota) "Every community has changed considerably. It's great to part of a company that want to give back to the community, that has served us well for so many years."
Sem invites all organizations interested in receiving grant dollars to apply at Agri-Bank dot com or Farm-Credit-ND dot com.
The deadline to apply for a grant from this years funds is November 30th.
Sem hopes the 2014 funds will top the one-million dollar mark.
