The season of giving is approaching.
For the Salvation Army that means distributing Christmas food baskets and toys to Ward County families.
Today, the Salvation Army opened applications to families with low income.
Families must apply at the Salvation Army.
An angel card will then be placed on one of four trees throughout Minot.
The four locations are Scheels, Home of Economy, K-Mart and United Community Bank.
Shoppers and patrons can fulfill the request on the angel card.
Salvation Army Captain Teri Nauta says the drive is one way to bring a happy holiday to Ward County families.
(Capt. Teri Nauta, The Salvation Army)"A lot of rents have gone up, food prices have gone up, gas has gone up. So, they still can barely make ends meet. So, we want Christmas to be a great time for everybody and everybody to have plenty of gifts."
In order to qualify you must sign up at the Salvation Army and present proof of I-D, income, address and the identification of those who live in the household.
Applications will be accepted through December 6th.
Gift distribution is December 20th.
