The YWCA Women's shelter has undergone what staff members are calling a big improvement to their facility.
The shelter's kitchen is freshly remodeled with new appliances, countertops and cupboards.
Before the two-month renovation, residents had little cabinet space to store their belongings...now there is one cabinet for each resident and more countertop space.
The 15-thousand dollar renovation was made possible through the rural community grant fund provided by Agri-bank and Farm Credit Services of North Dakota.
YWCA Executive Director, Dena Pinton says they new kitchen area offers resident more than a place to prepare meals.
(Dena Penton, YWCA Executive Director)"I think it's nice to have a place that's a family atmosphere. They can do some communicating with other women and kind of build their esteem and morale. So I think this is very vital in having that. If it's just kind of a dingy place then it doesn't make you feel too good about yourself."
The labor that went into the project was donated by construction firm, Just For You.
