31-year-old Richard Whitman will spend 25 years in prison for murder in the shooting death of a Montana man in Beulah last year.
Richard Whitman was charged, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced - all in one day..yesterday in Bismarck.
The streamlined hearing came after the state Supreme Court overturned Whitman's conspiracy to commit murder conviction in the case.
The high court said there had been improper documents used in the case, but said Whitman could be charged again.
Then yesterday, he was charged, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced.
Whitman admitted killing Mike Padilla of Billings in January of 2012.
A co-defendant in the case, Cody Borner, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on lesser charges in two weeks.
