Christmas is a magical time of year...just mention the holiday to a child and chances are you'll see a face light up.
Of course not all kids experience the full Christmas experience...with a tree and presents under it.
That's where Toys for Tots comes in across the country.
However, in the Minot area, Toys for Tots doesn't operate.
Carrie Veitz wants to change that.
Veitz recently moved to Minot from Virginia where she was involved with Toys for Tots.
This season she has set up drop points for toys to be donated that will be shipped to Bismarck for distribution in that area...with the hope of keeping them in the Minot area next year.
She says the program is wonderful...and it is one she has supported for decades.
(Carrie Veitz - FedEx of Minot) "My kids growing up didn't have a need but we would always try and donate to Toys for Tots. That way, a child...if you are going to spend the money on your kids then what is another 20 or 30 dollars to buy a toy for a child that may not have anything else under the tree."
There are two drop points in Minot.
One inside Dakota Square Mall at Old Navy -- and the other on north hill at the FedEx Ground location.
You'll find them north of the Cameron Indoor Tennis Center at 3900 6th Street NE.
The final day for donations will be December 12th.
Minot Police say Zofia Kristal Pepple of New Town was struck by a pickup and killed about 6:25pm Sunday
A two-year-old child was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Minot Sunday evening.
They ask if you have any information about the incident that you contact them at 852-0111.
In addition, both had recently been released from state prison.
