He quit his job at the refinery and opened -- "a battery store, retail battery store," says Jake Stewart, Owner, Battery Doctors.

But it's not just any battery store.  It's a factory-direct, no middle-man operation that aims to serve Mandan.  "There's a void in the consumer market for batteries and we're here to try and educate people," says Jake.  They offer automotive, industrial, laptop, hearing aid batteries and more -- with most everything made in the U.S.

Battery Doctors is also a veteran-owned company.  Show your card and get a ten percent discount for active duty and retired vets.  You can find them at 2111 3rd Street SE in Mandan.

After construction delays due to weather, the Hampton Inn & Suites in Bismarck has nearly a hundred guest-ready rooms.  "This hotel is all 100 percent locally owned.  And so the partners are local that make-up Roughrider Hospitalities and so we try to provide something that the people of Bismarck and North Dakota would want," says Jim Poolman, Partner, Roughrider Hospitality, Hampton Inn & Suites.

The design was hand-selected throughout, with a pool, hot tub, fitness room -- and free breakfast for every guest every morning.  There's also meeting space to accommodate 50 to 100 people.

You can call Bismarck Hampton Inn on or go to the Hilton website to reach Hampton Inn & Suites.  They're also hiring.

A familiar Mandan space gets a face-lift.  "This is all thanks to a grant from Bremer Bank that allowed us to do the painting, new cash register stands, new cash registers," says Patti Regan, Executive Director, AID Incorporated.

The grant also assists the organization with their mission of helping people with basic services such as rent and utilities.

Plus, they have a new van with a lift gate -- courtesy of Walmart -- which their elderly volunteers appreciate.

They invite you to stop by 314 West Main in Mandan for lots of thrift store bargains.  AID Incorporated is having an open house the week of November 18th to the 23rd with refreshments every afternoon.
