Schneider Sentenced for New England Bank Robbery

In his plea for a lesser sentence for bank robbery, this man says he feels terrible for scaring the New England bank teller.

20 year old Colt Schneider is sentenced to 7 years for his role in a bank hold up in New England, North Dakota.

Schneider was sentenced this afternoon in U.S. Federal Court in Bismarck.

A federal jury convicted Schneider in August of the crime.

He and Johnner Ward, Jr. were charged with bank robbery and use of a firearm in a crime of violence for the robbery at the American Bank Center October 18th 2012.

The men drove from Rapid City, South Dakota to the bank in New England.

Schneider and Johnner were arrested in Florida and Texas following the robbery.

Judge Daniel Hovland's sentence was below the recommended sentencing guidelines for bank robbery.

Hovland based his decision partially on the fact that Schneider was assaulted by a cell mate in a federal facility in Oklahoma City shortly after his arrest.

The co-defendant, Ward is serving an 11 year sentence for the crime.
