Salvation Army Seeking Volunteers

Posted: Updated:

The Salvation Army aims to fulfill a promise to do good in the community and volunteers are needed to help make that happen.

The Salvation Army is currently seeking volunteers to ring bells at red kettle locations throughout the city.

Most of the kettle locations are indoors; however, two will be outdoors.

A Salvation Army Captain says volunteers openings are still available--especially for the outdoor locations, which can be harder to fill.

Funds generated from the seasonal campaign will help The Salvation Army offer assistance to families throughout the entire year.

(Capt. Tim Nauta, The Salvation Army)"Folks are aware that we are handing out food baskets an toys during Christmas and all of that stuff, but we have the rest of the year where there is a great need. The need seems to increase from year to year so those moneys have to stretch for the whole year."

To become a volunteer, you can call The Salvation Army at 838-8925.

The campaign begins this Friday and runs through Christmas Eve.
