Property Tax Bills Being Readied

Posted: Updated:

While the governor looks for ideas on property tax changes, the people at your local county offices are preparing your property tax bill for the year.

In Ward County, Auditor Devra Smestad and her staff are making the final calculations on the thousands of tax bills that will be going into the mail within about a week.

(Devra Smestad, Ward County Auditor) "We've run most of the reports and now it's a matter of verifying those, we'll run a tax calc that normally takes several hours so that will run overnight, and then it's just verifying that everything came across and that our 12% discount on the gross will print properly and calculate properly. Once everything finalizes and we make sure it's all balanced out and printing properly, we will start printing and get them out within three or four days."

That means in you have property in Ward County, you could see your property tax bill in the mail next week.
