The Red Cross is not only a symbol of help, but one of hope.
Volunteers for the Mid-Dakota Chapter of the American Red Cross are taking time to send 'hope' to military men and women this holiday season.
Volunteers have prepared Christmas cards and candy canes for members of the North Dakota National Guard, the Minot Air Force Base and local military veterans.
This weekend, giant Red Cross holiday cards were set up in Dakota Square Mall for everyone to sign.
One giant card was sent to the Army Reserve Site for display during the Christmas party this weekend --- the second card will be sent to the base for that party later this week.
For Red Cross volunteer Evelyn Hildebrand, the message is simple:
(Evelyn Hildebrand, Volunteer American Red Cross Mid-Dakota Chapter) "These veterans are there for us every day. So we can be there for them for Christmas."
