With the exciting holiday season also comes a not so jolly time -- influenza season.
And if you haven't gotten your vaccination for the year, now's the time, because this week is National Flu Vaccination week.
It comes in the form of a shot, or a spray, and is recommended for everyone six months and older.
The nursing director at First District Health says that small habits - like washing hands - are ways to prevent the spreading of the flu, but the vaccination is the best way to protect yourself.
(Penny Hamilton, Director of Nursing at First District Health Unit) "It's not too late. We vaccinate in to February and March. In North Dakota, flu season peaks at different times, usually it is February and March. Last year it came a little bit early, and there's still plenty of vaccine in the community, through your private providers, and certainly here at First District Health Unit we have vaccinations available."
First District Health is open for walk in vaccinations Monday through Friday from 8 to 4:30.
