Linton Residents React to Company Wanting to Drill for Natural Gas

Posted:

An announcement of drilling for natural gas east of the Missouri has people talking.

Strata-X-Energy has been issued two permits each in Emmons and McIntosh Counties.
The company is drilling for shallow natural gas.
Two wells would be drilled here roughly ten miles east of Linton.
The other two would be drilled about ten miles to the west and south of Wishek.
We asked local residents what they thought of the gas industry coming to town.

(Janice Wolfer / Linton Resident)  "I thought that was wonderful. It would be good for Emmons County."
(Marcella Keller / Linton Resident )"I'm sure it will help get people in. Helping the business, building up more businesses.
(Melvin Wohl / Linton Resident) "Looking at what has happened over west, person has got some second thoughts. Moneywise it would be fine."
(Russ Lipp / Linton Resident  ) "With the crime rate already in the western part, I think it would all just come this way. Which it is already. We live around an older community and it's harder on the older people and the younger people to make livings. Personally I just don't think it would be a good idea."
(Charlotte Fraise / Linton Resident) "I think it would be good for the community, maybe bring more jobs and everything too. I can't really see where it would harm anything. I don't see any downs on it. I think it would be good."
(Mary Bosch / Linton Resident) "That's fine with me. brings maybe people or money into the town, into the community."

Another company attempted to drill in Emmons County in 2006, but was not successful.
