MSU Nursing Program

MSU Nursing Program

Posted: Updated:

The fall semester is wrapping up for Minot State University students.

Today, research conducted throughout this semester was brought to light by nursing students.

MSU's Nursing Department held its semi-annual Nursing Scholarship Day.

Nursing students delivered a series of research-based presentations depending on their level in the program.

Students worked on the research projects throughout the semester and the projects are factored into their final grades.

One nursing instructor in the department says research-based projects fall right in line with today's nursing industry.

(Nikki Medalen, MSU Assistant Professor) "As we move forward in nursing, we're recognizing that the entry level to nursing is becoming a higher education level as well. So we're recognizing that if we can teach students to both utilize research, as well as to do research, that they're more apt to provide better patient care."

Medalen says about 90 nursing students participated in today's showcase of research.
