Chateau Apartment Fire Update

Chateau Apartment Fire Update

Posted: Updated:

That fire in Williston is very similar to the blaze in Minot last week that destroyed the Chateau Apartments that had been under construction near Arrowhead Shopping Center.

Both were large, and required lots of firefighting work to save nearby structures.

So where does the investigation into the Chateau fire stand?

Fire Marshall Ed Hausauer says there are no solid answers as of yet.

Many agencies are planning on coming together next week at the site to continue the work that needs to be done to try and get an answer.

But that answer may be tough to find --- and the last thing Hausauer will do is make a guess as to how the massive fire started.

(Ed Hausauer, Minot Fire Marshall) "Worst thing you can do is jump to conclusions. The Chateau fire, nobody lost their lives there but there was a significant loss there. I am not going to blame it on somebody or something that is going to be stuck with a significant financial bill based upon speculation. I want to have proof and be able to defend that proof in court."

Hausauer calls fire a quote, 'peculiar beast'.

It often consumes what actually causes the fire --- making pin-pointing what happened often times very difficult.
