A flood recovery reimbursement plan is still open to applicants, but the deadline to apply is drawing near.
The CDBG Disaster Recovery homeowner reimbursement application process will close on December 31st.
Homeowners who have spent money rehabilitating their flooded homes can receive up to 10-thousand dollars in reimbursements if receipts are submitted to show those purchases.
All homeowners, regardless of income level can apply; however 51% of the 5-million dollars available will go to low to moderate income households.
Minot city finance director, Cindy Hemphill says about 1,000 applicants have signed-up for reimbursement, but more who qualify are encouraged to apply before the end of the year.
(Cindy Hemphill, Minot Finance Director) "We've had to reject a number of applications so far, but a majority of those people lived outside of the city of Minot; and then also if your house is in the footprint, we can't provide funds because we'll eventually have to buy that home and the federal government will not allow us apply funds to rehabilitate the house if they know that it's eventually going to be bought because of the flood control project."
Hemphil says the easiest way to apply is online at minotreimb.com.
