Open Your Heart Delivers Boxes to Families

Posted:

Volunteers form assembly lines and donate their time to help make others' Christmas' a little brighter.

It's the final day of the 84th annual Open Your Heart event.

The non perishable food items donated yesterday are ready to go.

This morning, the perishable food items are delivered and distributed among the boxes.

Volunteers in their cars are lined up ready to deliver the food boxes to their designated families.

Some, like Carl Ness, have been volunteering for a number of years.

"We know we're helping out families that may not have a very Merry Christmas and this helps them out. I mean, this is just one little link in the chain that, you know, we make sure that there's people here to actually load these things and get them on their way, and I don't know, volunteering is fun," says Carl Ness, Volunteer.

This year, Open Your Heart raised roughly 70 thousand dollars.

This was enough to make the holidays happier for 316 families.
