Although school is out for the holidays the Minot High Boys swim team is still working hard through the Christmas break.

The Magicians finished a strong second over the weekend at the Bismarck invite.

And now they head back towards the Capitol for a unique pentathlon meet in Mandan.

This west region meet is scored differently than a usual swim meet--each swimmer has to compete in each 100 meter race . Which gives teams in the WDA a chance to really evaluate themselves and each other.

(Jake Solper, Head Coach) "The Pentathlon, again, is a very unique meet. The scoring is different so what the final team's score say doesn't really give us a lot of direction on how the rest of the season is going to go. But what it does give us the opportunity to do is maybe better balance our lineups for future meets."

(Ryan Swartwout, Senior) "Well, we're going to see what everyone's strong suits are in the races. Whether they're a good breast stroker, freestyler, or back stroker. We might even find a few flyers. We're going to see where people's strong suits lie."

(Daniel Clark, Senior) "We have a well rounded team this year. Some new guys which is great and we'll be able to see exactly what they're good at and see how we advance from now to state"

The Mandan Pentathlon is scheduled for Friday.
