Tax Statements Late

Posted: Updated:

Ward County residents can expect to see tax statements in the mail this week -- in fact many probably found them in mailboxes today.

Upon opening it, you'll more than likely find that you'll be keeping more of your money than years past.

Legislative property tax relief will be documented on the annual tax bill, and other locations.

Marisa Haman is the deputy auditor for Ward County.

She says the statements were mailed out yesterday...meaning many should have seen them on this Christmas Eve.

It is a bit later than usual...usually the goal is to have them out by the 18th, but changes made that impossible this year.

(Marisa Haman, Deputy Ward County Auditor) "We had a lot of programming and testing we had to do with the legislative relief, the 12 percent, a lot of that had to change on the statement and that took us a bit longer than anticipated but once we got printing that takes a little while and that took the extra time to get them out the door but we did them as fast as we possibly could."

Haman says a majority of the statements this year show a reduction in tax burden.
