Base Runway

Posted: Updated:

A multi-million dollar project has begun at Minot Air Force Base to repair and improve the base's only runway.

The US Department of Defense is spending 32-million dollars on the work that will last through the coming summer into next fall.

North Dakota Senator John Hoeven says repairs to one end of the runway were completed earlier and another section of the 13,250-foot runway was worked on recently as well.

When work is going on that limits the availability of the runway, some of the base's B-52 bombers will be relocated at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana or at a forward base in Guam.
