Puppy Stolen from Shelter

Puppy Stolen from Shelter

Posted: Updated:

Someone stole a puppy from Minot's animal shelter in the past 24 hours.

Maggie Finwall of the shelter says sometime between the close of business Wednesday and opening time today (Thursday) someone made off with one puppy from a litter of four daschund- Chihuahua- Shiatsu crossbred pups.

Finwall says this is not the first time there have been animals stolen from the shelter.

(Maggie Finwall, Souris Valley Animal Shelter) "I think the community of Minot needs to be aware that this is becoming a very serious issue. People surrender their pets or bring in strays because they're under the assumption that we're going to find them a good home, so, shame on the people that are doing this."

She says the shelter is considering new security measures such as requiring visitors to sign in and not allowing visitors unattended time in the kennel area.

If you know where the stolen puppy might be, you're asked to contact the Souris Valley Animal Shelter.
