Locals Enjoy Warmer Temperatures

Winter tends to be a lingering season, but a warm balmy day can help break it up.

Stephanie Scheurer takes us out and about to see what locals are doing to take advantage of what feels like a North Dakota heat wave.

North Dakotans can "weather" most things and thrive in the cold, but a warmer winter day like today is definitely lifting spirits.

"It puts you in a good mood, like I want to get out, I want to, you know, go shopping and just spend some time outside."

S'no need to stay indoors when the sun is shining and beginning to melt away some of the ice.

Walkers, joggers, and sledders are definitely not giving a cold shoulder to the warmer temperatures.

"We went out when it was pretty cold. The hill was pure ice and we went really fast. You had to bale before you hit a tree," says Austin Bergstrand, Sledder.

Or bale because of the ice cold temperatures.

Dale Schwindt and his wife are taking advantage of the warm up and getting their pup, Tiffany a little exercise too.

"She does a lot better job when it's warmer out and we feed the squirrels too when we're out here so that's kind of nice," says Dale Schwindt.

Even car washes are seeing their fair share of customers trying to beat the rush and slush.

"I'm an early bird and I walked outside this morning. It felt like spring, car hadn't been washed for a long time so I thought I'd get here before the lines got here."

"Days like today are usually pretty good for washing cars since it is warmer, it's kind of sunnier, the streets aren't too bad so yeah, usually days like today tend to be the busiest," says Drew Bommarito, First Assistant Manager, Red Carpet Carwash.

Whether the weather is cold or the weather is not, people are making the best of the weather we've got.

Bommarito says usually Red Carpet washes around 200 cars a day.

He said this morning, a few cars were in line even before they opened.
