The state gears up for a milestone of a birthday.
The celebration of North Dakota's 125th anniversary of statehood kicks off at the state capitol.
This is the first event of a year-long celebration.
Activities include performances by Chuck Suchy and the Hazen music duo, Tigirlily.
Lieutenant Governor Drew Wrigley and Governor Dalrymple talk about the state and announce upcoming events planned throughout the year.
But the big surprise today, the unveiling of the official 125th logo.
"It has been a very rich story, a very rich heritage for all of our people, and I think we are so proud of our 125 year history" Governor Dalrymple said.
The celebration continues throughout the year with a day long birthday celebration on August 16th at the Capitol.
The burning hills singers will be there.
There will also be statehood celebration along with the opening of the North Dakota Heritage Center on November 2nd.
