Home Depot Nearing Opening Date

Posted: Updated:

Home Depot is set to open its doors in Minot tomorrow morning.

It has been a quick build for the home improvement retailer...and as Perry Olson shows us, the newest location is about ready to make its first sale.

The final preparations are almost complete here at The Home Depot...

(Jason Barker - Home Depot Store Manager) "It is a fun chaotic time setting up a store..."

Store Manager Jason Barker has overseen the process of getting everything in place here -- managing crews from across the country that have come in to put all the pieces together...

(Jason Barker - Home Depot Store Manager) "We have people who come in to set the steel, others come in to set the merchandising."

And there is plenty to be set...fully stocking a store like this takes an estimated 350 truckloads of goods...they have been arriving over the last few months...

(Jason Barker - Home Depot Store Manager) "We started this journey as far as being in the store about 8 weeks ago. When we start we have kind of a process from a merchandising stand point and we also have a process for the people side of things. Making sure those who are new to the company are getting the proper training."

Barker says he has been pleased with the hiring process...while they are still looking for a few final positions, overall...it has gone very well in a region where competition is hard on employers...not the employees.

(Jason Barker - Home Depot Store Manager) "We have been able to find some really good quality people and we are glad to have them on the team."

That team takes the field, so to speak, Thursday. In Minot, Perry Olson, KX News.

Official grand opening set for 10am tomorrow morning with a ribbon cutting...but the store actually opens its doors tomorrow at 6am.
