Man Charged with Having Meth in Burleigh County Detention Center

A 29-year-old man faces a number of charges after being caught with drugs in jail.

Marcus Shaw is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver--a class 'AA' felony.

An investigator with the Metro Area Narcotics Task Force says Shaw was arrested at the Motel 6 for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Shaw complained of stomach pains and fled police as he was being taken to the Sanford ER for care.

He was later located at the Radisson and taken back into custody.

Shaw was taken to the Burleigh County Detention Center where officers found two bags of meth hidden in the lining of a vest he was wearing.

It ended up being sixty grams of meth with a street value of $12,000.

Shaw faces additional charges of escape, tampering with evidence and possession of a controlled substance.

He's being held on $200,000 cash bond.
