Bismarck Sheriff Department Presents Awards

Posted: Updated:

The Burleigh County Sheriff's Department gives out awards to some of it's staff and a few community members.

It was a packed house at the ceremony today.

Burleigh County Sheriff Pat Heinert presented four of the awards to community members.

He also gave out an "Employee of the Year" award to Nate McLeish and "Detention Officer of the Year" to Eric Howe.

''We feel our staff deserves the recognition for earning rank, for earning the awards. The employees of the year deserve to be recognized for sure because those are outstanding people. They don't give that award lightly. We have 90-some employees and we only give 2 awards out for that so it's not an easy award to receive, and they deserve the recognition," Sheriff of Burleigh County Pat Heinert said.

He says the Sheriff's Department has held an awards ceremony every year for 7 years.

They also swear in new deputies during this event.
