Canadian Dollar Dropping in Value

Posted: Updated:

The Canadian dollar has decreased in value over the last few days to the lowest value it has seen since 2009.

The loonies is now worth just under 90 cents compared to the American dollar.

Executive director of Visit Minot, Wendy Howe says that local businesses should not see a decrease in spending from our northern neighbors.

(Wendy Howe, Executive Director of Visit Minot) "If anything I think it'll be a benefit to us because they might choose to travel a little closer to home versus going farther away. So Minot might end up being a destination that they decide to vacation to versus farther out of state or other states."

Howe also said that local business can encourage commerce by advertising regular specials on clothing items and business materials.
