The 3rd and final candidate for the Minot State head football coaching position was on campus today. Mike Aldrich, who is the defensive coordinator from Wayne State, Nebraska was presented to the media. Aldrich has had NSIC head coaching experience coaching Augustana from 2010 to 2012 and was named the 2010 AFCA region 5 coach of the year. Aldrich guided the Vikings to a school record 11 wins and a first ever playoff appearance. Aldrich says he brings with him a unique style of coaching.
Mike Aldrich, MSU Coaching Candidate:I'm not a cookie cutter coach, I want to do things different and better than they've ever done before so the things and style of practice that we'll have will be different than what anybody else has and I think that's o.k.
Although the national signing day is just over a week away Aldrich says that it doesn't necessarily mean that the recruiting process is over.
Aldrich:Well signing day is 8 days away. It's on the 5th and I think the big thing is that you can't get suckered into the thought that that's the day that everybody has to sign you also have time after that. There's a lot of kids that are still out there that are unrecruited that aren't gonad sign a scholarship on signing day and you have more than enough time after that to keep the recruiting process.
An announcement on the new coach is expected by the end of the week.
