With the Class B boys basketball season winding down--the Des Lacs - Burlington Lakers and the Berthold bombers will meet up on Saturday at the Minot Auditorium. A game that will ultimately decide the number one seed in the district 12 tournament.
This will be the first meeting between the two on the season and both are ranked in the state polls. The difference is that DL-B has yet lost in District play, even though they have 2 non district losses. While the Bombers have just one loss this year- It came against the Our Redeemer's Knights who is also in the mix for that top seed. If DL-B comes out on top they get that coveted one seed for the district 12 tournament--
(Doug Wagner/Lakers head Coach) "For us, if we win it we get the number one seed locked up. If Berthold wins, then it's a three way tie. So it'll go point difference. You want that number one seed for lots of reasons. But the District is so balanced. Is it a huge thing to get it? Probably not. It's a bigger thing for pride and bragging rights."
(Chris Brown/ Bombers head coach) "our district is so competitive that going into the District tournament you want to be ranked as high as you can. Obviously, we're going against a very good basketball team tomorrow and it could have big implications on where we'll be seated come tournament time."
Separated by about 15 miles--this weekend's match up is between two squads that know each other well and you can expect both teams to bring their A game against one another.
(Tanner Holte/ Lakers Center) "It's a really big game, we have to come out with our best defense to beat them. They have great shooters so we'll have to work hard."
(Cole Edwards/ Laker Guard) "We have to close out on shooters. They have a lot of guys that can knock down a jump shot. We're going to have to play defense. We've struggled on D for a few games, but we've been working hard watching film to correct it."
(Austin Lee/ Bomber Guard) "We have to tighten it up on D, we're not as good as we should be. We've been working on it a lot this week so we just need to tighten down and play our game."
(Adam Knudsvig/ Senior Forward) "They Key thing is to keep Holte and Duke in low scoring numbers. And we need to play together as a team while not making any stupid mistakes."

We will be broadcasting this district 12 battle---as well as the Our Redeemer's Knight against Surrey. A knights win would make them that third team in the possible district 12 tie breaker--if Berthold comes out on top.
