NDSC Holds 41st Safety and Health Conference

The North Dakota Safety Council holds its 41st Annual Safety and Health Conference at the Bismarck Civic Center.

One-hundred and sixty vendors gather to promote safety to nearly 1,000 participants.

Director of Workforce Safety & Insurance, Bryan Klipfel says with North Dakota's booming economy, there has been an increase in workforce injuries and fatalities.

His agency partners with the North Dakota Safety Council as well as companies themselves to provide safety programs.

Klipfel says most of these accidents are occurring out in the oil fields.

"These are people that are working outside or working on, you know, driving vehicles on our highways. It's construction-type work. It's dangerous work. It's not like I said before sitting in an office. So even though it is dangerous, it doesn't have to be unsafe," says Bryan Klipfel, Director, Workforce Safety & Insurance.

If companies participate in different safety programs, they can get up to a 25 percent premium discount.
