Committee Narrows President Search List

Posted: Updated:

The search for a new president for Minot State University moved ahead today.

Eight semi-finalists for the job were interviewed over the Internet.

The committee gathered in the administration building on MSU's campus and talked with men and women from across the country who have made the cut so far.

The committee members spent the entire day quizzing the semi finalists and, according to the chairman of the committee, had a hard job to try to cull the list to four.

(Terry Hjelmstad, Chairman) "I think we are going to select four that we are going to interview on campus, and from that we are probably only going to send three to the board. It depends on what we narrow it down to after our Internet videos, but it'll be four or five and from that we'll have three that will go to the state board oh higher education, and they'll select the candidate. Most of them have experience, and have a desire for the position and are willing to do some things that we had on our actually search. We're looking forward to breaking that down and interviewing them on campus."

Here's a list of the four finalists chosen by the committee today.

Those four will visit the campus next week for final interviews.

The State Board of Higher Education will pick the new MSU president at its late February meeting in Minot.

The new president will take over for Dr. David Fuller, who is retiring after ten years leading the university.
