Fort Yates Woman Reportedly Freezes to Death

Posted:

A Fort Yates woman is dead after being found frozen to death in her home.

An email message forwarded from a Standing Rock official says Debbie Dogskin was found dead in her home in Sioux Village in Fort Yates.

Avis Little Eagle says the Sioux County Sheriff came to the Standing Rock Administration building today to inform the chairman of the first cold weather fatality of the year. Little Eagle confirmed the story during a phone conversation Tuesday evening.

Little Eagle called Dogskin a childhood friend who was in her early 50's.

The tribe issues a state of emergency due to a propane shortage.

The BIA says it cannot comment on the report.
