Bronco Busters Saddle Up for the PRCA Rodeo

Get ready to saddle up for the PRCA Championship Rodeo.

Bull-riders are ready to take this year to the Extreme.

Steph Scheurer tells us what it takes to be a professional in this sport.

"To ride bulls, you gotta know you want to ride bulls," says Shane Gunderson, Stock Contracting Business.

Shane Gunderson was a bull-rider for 12 years.

And he's not full of bull when he says it's not if you're going to get hurt riding them, it's when.

"I broke my arm. Broke my sternum," says Gunderson.

Bumps and bruises aside, he says working with bulls is in his blood.

"It's a young man's sport but if I had to do it over again I'd have went twice as many," says Gunderson.

When Gunderson quit riding bulls, he started buying bulls - elite livestock that is a part of the PRCA Championship Rodeo here in Bismarck.

And buckaroos are ready to get buck wild in an extreme way.

"When you pit a 150 pound cowboy against a 2,000 pound bull that you don't know what he's going to do. I would call that extreme," says Wally Mosbrucker, Promoter.

Standup: "It's the Xtreme Bull-Riding tour. Fifty of the top bronco busters in the country will be taking famous bulls like Buck wild and Pandemic by the horns for what has been called the most dangerous 8 seconds in sports."

"When you're dealing with wild animals, you never know what's going to happen. There is no script, you know, you kind of have an idea of how things should go but it don't always work out that way but you're going to see some tremendous talent here, not only in the contestants but in the livestock," says Mosbrucker.

Talent that is sure to keep you at the edge of your seat.

"Expect the unexpected," says Mosbrucker.

The XTreme Bull-Riding Tour is tonight.

Friday and Saturday night will feature all seven of the standard rodeo events.

Tickets are 10 dollars for children and 20 dollars for adults.

The rodeo begins at 7:30pm each evening.
